Job Description

Summary

Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Shipping and Receiving verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments, prepares items for shipment, and performs a variety of shipping and receiving tasks for La Maestra Community Health Center facilities.

Department: Shipping and receiving

Pay range: $21.00 to $28.00 per hour, depends on experience (DOE)

Responsibilities

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment: Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.

  • Unpacks, examines and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Maintains vehicle maintenance report.
  • Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor
  • Responsible for keeping an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies
  •  Performs all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods
  • Orders and delivers all Waxie products and water to all sites
  • Orders and delivers copy paper to Fairmount sites
  • Delivers Office Depot, McKesson, Henry Shine, Amazon, and Insight orders to appropriate offices
  • Delivers all UPS/FedEx mail to all Fairmount buildings
  • Takes outgoing packages to FedEx/UPS to be shipped
  • Picks up Incentives for events
  • Makes necessary pick-ups for janitorial staff
  • Delivers medication for CCTRP/MCRP and all other sites
  • Picks up patients when drivers are out on special patient pick-ups
  • Covers Courier, Janitor, and Front desk shifts when necessary
  • Covers events when needed
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Patient Centered Medical Home Essential Responsibilities (Principals)

  • Collaborate with individual patients, their personal physicians, and when appropriate the patient’s family to ensure accessible, comprehensive, compassionate, and culturally competent care
  • Facilitate care by registries, information technology, health information exchange and other means to assure that patients get the indicated care when and where they need and want it in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner.
  • Ensure all decisions respect patients’ wants, needs, and preferences and that patients have the education and support they require to make decisions and participate in their own care.
  • Continually strive to attend to each patient “whole person,” in the context of the patient’s personal and medical history and life circumstances, rather than focusing on a particular disease, organ, or system.

Job Requirements

Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent

Experience: One year of experience working in a delivery, courier, or similar position in a healthcare clinic or medical office preferred.

Verbal and Written Skills to perform the job: Familiarity with basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Accurate keyboarding skills.

Technical knowledge and skills required to perform the job: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals and groups. Demonstrate high levels of self-initiation and direction. Knowledge of communities we serve. Knowledge and experience working in medical settings and interacting collaboratively with medical teams. Skill in analyzing situations and making timely decisions.

Physical and Mental Requirements: Work involves sitting, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms.
