{"id":5305,"date":"2026-03-16T16:36:38","date_gmt":"2026-03-16T16:36:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lamaestra.org\/?post_type=job_listing&#038;p=5305"},"modified":"2026-03-16T16:36:38","modified_gmt":"2026-03-16T16:36:38","slug":"dental-assistant","status":"publish","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/lamaestra.org\/index.php\/job\/dental-assistant\/","title":{"rendered":"Dental Assistant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Dental Assistant<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pay Range:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>$22.00- $30.00 (Depends on Experience)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>City Heights<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Status\/Hours:<\/strong> \u00a0Non-Exempt\/ Full Time<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Dental Assistant is responsible for performing chair side support services, procedures, and general office procedures under the supervision of a dentist.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist the DDS\/DMD with patient care by providing and explaining the DDS\/DMD instructions<\/li>\n<li>Clean room after finishing with procedures<\/li>\n<li>Route patient back to the front desk with post-examination\/procedure instructions (i.e. to check out, schedule next appointment, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Clean all instruments after procedures<\/li>\n<li>Prepares and maintains all dental instruments, supplies, and equipment<\/li>\n<li>Call next patient immediately after setting up the exam room<\/li>\n<li>Maintain inventory and order supplies list<\/li>\n<li>Assure proper operation and maintenance of equipment by performing inspections<\/li>\n<li>Be able to perform Spore test weekly, clean autoclave weekly (following proper procedures)<\/li>\n<li>Take X-rays (proper certification required)<\/li>\n<li>Take oral impressions for diagnostic and opposing models<\/li>\n<li>Remove post-extraction and periodontal dressings<\/li>\n<li>Prepare dental materials, including but not limited to, cements, amalgam, composite, impression materials, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Apply non-aerosol and non-caustic topical agents<\/li>\n<li>Apply topical fluoride, after scaling and polishing by the supervising DDS\/DMD or RDA<\/li>\n<li>Place and remove rubber dams or other isolation devices<\/li>\n<li>Place, wedge, and remove matrices for restorative procedures<\/li>\n<li>Responsible for dental charting<\/li>\n<li>Delivers patient personal care oral instructions<\/li>\n<li>When needed, delivers community dental health presentations<\/li>\n<li>Plans, assembles, and manages health fair booths<\/li>\n<li>Performs extra oral duties or functions specified by the supervising DDS\/DMD.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain effective communication and working relationships with other employees and patients<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Additional Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Attend staff meetings<\/li>\n<li>Performs other duties as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Patient Centered Medical Home Essential Responsibilities<em> (Principals)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collaborate with individual patients, their personal physicians, and when appropriate the patient\u2019s family to ensure accessible, comprehensive, compassionate, and culturally competent care<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate care by registries, information technology, health information exchange and other means to assure that patients get the indicated care when and where they need and want it in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all decisions respect patients\u2019 wants, needs, and preferences and that patients have the education and support they require to make decisions and participate in their own care.<\/li>\n<li>Continually strive to attend to each patients \u201cwhole person,\u201d in the context of the patient\u2019s personal and medical history and life circumstances, rather than focusing on a particular disease, organ, or system<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Job Requirements<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Education:\u00a0 <\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent<\/p>\n<p><strong>Certification<\/strong>:\u00a0 Dental Assistant Certificate, Current valid CPR certification.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Experience<\/strong>: 1-2 years\u2019 experience in a dental office or similar setting as a front or back office Dental Assistant preferred<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Verbal and Written Skills to perform the job:<\/strong>\u00a0 Bilingual preferred. Familiarity with basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.\u00a0 Accurate keyboarding skills.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Technical knowledge and skills required to perform the job<\/strong>:\u00a0 Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.\u00a0 Demonstrate high levels of self-initiation and direction. Knowledge of communities we serve. Knowledge and experience working in medical settings and interacting collaboratively with medical teams. \u00a0Skill in analyzing situations and making timely decisions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Physical and Mental Requirements:\u00a0 <\/strong>Work involves sitting, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms. The employee may be required to push, pull, lift, and\/or carry up to 20 pounds.
