{"id":5308,"date":"2026-03-18T17:24:38","date_gmt":"2026-03-18T17:24:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lamaestra.org\/?post_type=job_listing&#038;p=5308"},"modified":"2026-03-18T17:24:38","modified_gmt":"2026-03-18T17:24:38","slug":"registered-dental-assistant","status":"publish","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/lamaestra.org\/index.php\/job\/registered-dental-assistant\/","title":{"rendered":"Registered Dental Assistant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Registered Dental Assistant<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pay Range:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>$ 24.00-$ 34.00<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Lemon Grove<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Status\/Hours:<\/strong> \u00a0Non-Exempt\/ Full Time<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Performs chair side supportive procedures and general office procedures under the supervision of a Dentist.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under general supervision of a Dentist, the Registered Dental Assistant may perform the following duties:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist the DDS\/DMD with patient care, by providing and explaining the dentist\u2019s instructions<\/li>\n<li>Assure proper operation and maintenance of equipment by performing inspections, ordering service, and periodic maintenance.<\/li>\n<li>Extra oral duties or functions specified by the supervising DDS\/DMD.<\/li>\n<li>Take X-rays (proper certification required)<\/li>\n<li>Apply topical fluoride, after scaling and polishing by the supervising DDS\/DMD<\/li>\n<li>Remove post-extraction and periodontal dressings<\/li>\n<li>Place and remove rubber dams<\/li>\n<li>Place, wedge, and remove matrices<\/li>\n<li>Maintain CPR Certification<\/li>\n<li>Maintain inventory and order supplies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition to the duties outlined above, under general supervision a Registered Dental Assistant may perform the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mouth mirror inspection of the oral cavity, charting of obvious lesions, existing restorations, and missing teeth<\/li>\n<li>Placement and removal of temporary sedative dressings<\/li>\n<li>Obtain endodontic cultures<\/li>\n<li>Dry canals, previously opened by supervising DDS\/DMD with absorbent points<\/li>\n<li>Test pulp vitality and record findings<\/li>\n<li>Place bases and liners on sound dentine<\/li>\n<li>Remove excess cement from supragingival surfaces of teeth with hand instrument of floss<\/li>\n<li>Size stainless steel crowns, temporary crowns, and bands<\/li>\n<li>Temporary cementation and removal of temporary crowns and removal of orthodontic bands<\/li>\n<li>Placement of post extraction and periodontal dressings after inspection of the surgical site by the supervising licensed dentist<\/li>\n<li>Coronal polishing. A licensed DDS\/DMD or RDA shall determine that the teeth to be polished are free from calculus or other extraneous material prior to coronal polishing<\/li>\n<li>Removal of excess cement with an ultrasonic scaler from coronal surface of teeth under ortho treatment (only upon completion of board approved course)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintain effective communication and working relationships with other employees and patients<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Additional Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Attend staff meetings<\/li>\n<li>Performs other duties as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Patient Centered Medical Home Essential Responsibilities<em> (Principals)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collaborate with individual patients, their personal physicians, and when appropriate the patient\u2019s family to ensure accessible, comprehensive, compassionate, and culturally competent care<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate care by registries, information technology, health information exchange and other means to assure that patients get the indicated care when and where they need and want it in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all decisions respect patients\u2019 wants, needs, and preferences and that patients have the education and support they require to make decisions and participate in their own care.<\/li>\n<li>Continually strive to attend to each patients \u201cwhole person,\u201d in the context of the patient\u2019s personal and medical history and life circumstances, rather than focusing on a particular disease, organ, or system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Job Requirements<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Education:\u00a0 <\/strong>High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent<\/p>\n<p><strong>Certification<\/strong>:\u00a0 Current valid CA Registered Dental Assistant License, current valid CRP Certification; Coronal Polishing Certification (preferred) Current valid CPR Certificate<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Experience<\/strong>:\u00a0 1-2 years\u2019 experience in a dental office as an RDA preferred<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Verbal and Written Skills to perform the job:<\/strong>\u00a0 Bilingual preferred. Familiarity with basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.\u00a0 Accurate keyboarding skills.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Technical knowledge and skills required to perform the job<\/strong>:\u00a0 Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.\u00a0 Demonstrate high levels of self-initiation and direction. Knowledge of communities we serve. Knowledge and experience working in medical settings and interacting collaboratively with medical teams.\u00a0 Skill in analyzing situations and making timely decisions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Physical and Mental Requirements:\u00a0 <\/strong>Work involves sitting, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms.
