This role involves conducting legal consultations,\u00a0preparing\u00a0and filing immigration applications, and\u00a0representing\u00a0clients before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The attorney will work closely with a team of legal professionals and advocates to ensure clients receive high-quality legal services.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reports to:\u00a0<\/strong>Supervising Attorney<\/p>\n<p><strong>Education:\u00a0<\/strong>Law degree<\/p>\n<p><strong>Certification:\u00a0<\/strong> Any U.S state bar (California preferred)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong>: Current Valid CPR Certification (required) Spanish (preferred)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Experience:\u00a0<\/strong>2 years of relevant experience<\/p>\n<p><strong>Essential Job Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Legal Representation<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<li>Represent detained and non-detained clients in immigration matters before EOIR, USCIS, and other relevant agencies according to internal caseload requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and file a variety of immigration forms and applications.<\/li>\n<li>Provide legal advice and consultations to clients, assessing their eligibility for immigration benefits and relief.<\/li>\n<li>Assist\u00a0as co-counsel in other legal providers\u2019 cases.<\/li>\n<li>Cover for other legal\u00a0provider\u2019s\u00a0court appearances and interviews.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and\u00a0submit\u00a0employment-based visa applications on behalf of the organization\u2019s sponsored employees.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Case Management<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<li>Maintain\u00a0accurate\u00a0and up-to-date case files,\u00a0ensuring\u00a0all client interactions and legal actions are thoroughly documented.<\/li>\n<li>Manage a caseload of clients, ensuring\u00a0timely\u00a0and effective service delivery.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor case progress and follow up with\u00a0clients\u00a0as necessary.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Client Support<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<li>Conduct client\u00a0intake\u00a0interviews to gather necessary information and assess legal needs.<\/li>\n<li>Provide information and education to clients about their legal rights and options.<\/li>\n<li>Offer emotional support and guidance to clients navigating the complex immigration process.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Advocacy and Outreach<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with community organizations and stakeholders to advocate for immigrant rights.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in community outreach efforts, including legal workshops and information sessions.<\/li>\n<li>Work with the organization&#8217;s leadership to develop and implement advocacy strategies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Compliance and Reporting<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<li>Ensure compliance with\u00a0the applicable state bar\u00a0and organizational policies, procedures, and ethical standards.<\/li>\n<li>Remain in good standing with the applicable state bar.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and\u00a0submit\u00a0reports as required by the organization and funding agencies.<\/li>\n<li>Stay current on changes in immigration law and\u00a0policy, and\u00a0adapt practices accordingly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Verbal and Written Skills to perform the job:<\/strong>\u00a0Bilingual (English\/Spanish) preferred. Familiarity with basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.\u00a0Accurate keyboarding skills.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Technical knowledge and skills required to perform the job<\/strong>: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.\u00a0Demonstrate high levels of self-initiation and direction. Knowledge of communities we serve. Knowledge and experience working in medical settings and interacting collaboratively with medical teams.\u00a0Skill in analyzing situations and making timely decisions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Physical and Mental Requirements:\u00a0<\/strong>Work involves sitting, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms.
