La Maestra Foundation<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

La Maestra Foundation (LMF) is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) established in 2005 in San Diego, California. The mission of the La Maestra Foundation is\u00a0to provide and support advocacy and community services that improve the overall well-being of low-income, culturally diverse individuals and families in San Diego and guide them along the path to self-sufficiency<\/em><\/strong>. La Maestra develops and integrates a variety of social services that are essential for economically challenged individuals and families, underserved youth and adults to be healthy and thrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Services include affordable housing assistance; transitional housing; microcredit loans; microenterprise assistance; financial literacy and job training placement; computer skills training; youth education and leadership; Healthy Choices<\/em> Food Pantry; a community garden; arts and other vocational skills classes. All services are integrated into La Maestra\u2019s holistic Circle of Care\u2122<\/em> model to address clients\u2019 unique health and well-being needs through referrals to comprehensive services.<\/p>\n\n\n

La Maestra Foundation’s key initiatives include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Advocacy for underrepresented, economically challenged individuals and families, and culturally diverse populations in our neighborhoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Provision of resources for micro-enterprises, including financial literacy education and start-up loans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Advocacy for and creation of safe affordable housing and job training and employment opportunities for individuals and families throughout San Diego County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acquisition, rehabilitation and management of single-family and multi-family housing for rent to low- to moderate-income individuals and families throughout San Diego County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commitment to cultural competence throughout integrated services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sustainability through diverse funding sources, internal fund development, and business development (microenterprises) to provide additional resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
