The Chief Executive Officer, Zara Marselian, was instrumental in the founding of the clinic. She has a firsthand understanding of the service community’s needs, has resided and worked in the City Heights community of San Diego since 1979, and has significant training in the development and practice of cross-cultural communication. She has been nationally recognized for her work as a health center leader, and most recently, Mrs. Marselian became a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). The American College of Healthcare Executives is the nation’s leading professional society for healthcare leaders. Under Mrs. Marselian’s leadership, La Maestra has developed an online cultural diversity program, and provides related local training at universities, managed care plans, and hospitals, with nationwide training for FQHCs.
