Status/ Hours: Full Time/ Non-Exempt
Pay range: $20.00-$24.00
Summary:
Assembles, delivers, and maintains documentation of prescription deliveries between all of the sites operated by La Maestra Community Health Center.
Responsibilities:
- Accepting prescriptions for filling, gathering and processing necessary information
- Receive, store, and inventory pharmaceutical supplies or medications, check for outdated medications, and notify pharmacist when inventory levels are low
- Operate cash register to process cash or credit sales
- Prepare, maintain, and record records of inventory, receipts, purchases, or deliveries
- Prepare prescription labels
- Answer telephone inquiries, referring callers to pharmacist when needed
- Restock storage areas, replenish items on shelves
- Perform clerical tasks including (but not limited to): filing, compiling and maintaining prescription records, faxing necessary documents, etc.
- Process medical insurance claims, post bill amounts and calculating copayments
- Maintain and clean equipment, work areas, shelves, etc.
- Refer patients with questions regarding the uses, effects, and interactions of drugs to the pharmacist
- Unpack, sort, count, and label incoming merchandise (not including pharmaceutical drugs)
- Ensure all medications due to be delivered are addressed to the correct clinic and for the correct patients
- Comply with Cash Register Policies and Procedures
- Maintain effective communication and working relationships with other employees and patients
- Has knowledge of all aspects of Pharmacy Services offered by La Maestra Community Pharmacy.
- Actively contributes and performs varied workflow tasks as delegated by Pharmacist and Level 3 Pharmacy Technician, takes direction well.
- Accurately and expediently prepares batches of all medications that are ready to be delivered to all remote sites. This includes
- Print two copies of the adherence report in Pick-Point for each site listed. Driver is not responsible for loading finished prescriptions into Pick-Point, only for identifying orders that are already in Pick-Point and flagged for delivery to a site.
- Light and retrieve all orders for each site, scan them out of Pick-Point and place them in their respective designated totes for each individual site. Once all light bags are retrieved and scanned out, re-run the adherence report for each site to ensure that all medications were gathered. Identify and retrieve all products from bulk and refrigerator and include them in the delivery.
- Retrieve any paperwork or miscellaneous items that have been designated for delivery in the site containers located within the pharmacy and include them in the totes for delivery for each site.
- Sign with date and time each copy of the adherence report, file one copy for each site in the designated binder in the pharmacy and ensure that the binder is returned to its designated place, do not leave it on the counter. Place the second copy of each report in the respective tote and secure the tote with a lid and zip-tie.
- Safely deliver all orders to each remote site prioritizing the order of drop off and pick up in a thoughtful, purposeful, and efficient manner.
- Pick up return bins from each site and return them to the Pharmacy.
- If prescriptions are being returned to the pharmacy, combine all returned products and place them in the bin labeled “El Cajon/National City RTS”
- After delivery bins have been emptied, repeat delivery process outlined above. It is expected that a minimum of 3 batched deliveries will occur daily.
- Products designated for home delivery will be batched and confirmed by technicians at each site. Before leaving a site with a batch for home delivery, confirm accuracy of products to be delivered by verifying that all products on delivery list are in the tote.
- Positively identify all patients upon delivery by asking for name and date of birth. Collect signature of the person receiving order and write the time of the delivery. Ask the patient if they would like to speak with a Pharmacist about their medications and provide them the phone number to the pharmacy for such a consultation.
- Keeps vehicle clean and complete pre-trip and post-trip inspection sheets.
- Observes all traffic regulations including speed and handheld electronic device restrictions and practices safe, defensive driving at all times.
- Completes routine tasks in a thorough, accurate, independent, and expeditious manner
- Actively seeks developmental opportunities to increase knowledge and skill level
- Assists and serves patients.
- Assists pharmacists as directed.
- Assists in the preparation of reports and written documentation, as required by the department, company, state and federal agencies.
- Participate in Quality Assurance and Compliance activities.
- Follows established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards are followed.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in service meetings and workshops.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Job Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification required: Current and Valid California Driver license.
Certification(s)/License(s) Preferred: CA Pharmacy Technician License
Experience: 0-2 years’ experience in a retail pharmacy, hospital or clinic setting preferred.
Verbal and Written Skills to perform the job: Bilingual preferred. Familiarity with basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Accurate keyboarding skills.
