Job Description
Pay Range: $23.00-$31.00 per hour, Depends on Experience (DOE)
Under the direction of the Revenue Cycle Manager the Medical Biller is responsible for the full range of insurance and self-pay/Sliding fee accounts. The Medical Biller is responsible for billing patients and third parties, including Medi-Cal, CHDP, Medicare, private insurances, Family Pact, Managed Care plans, and various programs and funding sources as assigned. Performs a variety of clerical duties in the maintenance of clinic patient’s accounts, performing all work with accuracy and in a timely manner.
Education requirements
Education: High School/GED.
Certification (s): Billing and Coding Certificate Preferred.
Experience requirements
Minimum of two years’ experience working in a customer service position in a healthcare clinic or medical office.
Qualifications
Verbal and Written Skills to perform the job: Familiarity with the basic word processing, spreadsheet, and data base applications. Accurate keyboarding skills.

Tiers: Biller I
Entry level professional with minimum of two year experience working in a customer service position in a healthcare clinic or medical office.
Biller II
Professional with 2-5 years of experience in medical billing in a Community Healthcare/FQHC setting and proficient in Practice Management billing software. Pursues collections of all claims until payment is made by Medi-Cal, Medicare, Managed Care Plans, private insurance, County Program and other insurance companies.
Biller III
Professional with 3-5 years of experience in medical billing in a Community Healthcare/FQHC setting and proficient in Practice Management billing software. The Biller III provides leadership and supervision for the billing department staff. The Biller III assigns, supervises, evaluates all billing staff performance while managing work flow. Actively participates in the development, implementation and compliance of billing policies and procedures by conducting research of billing regulations and/or procedures. The Biller III uses their advanced knowledge and skill set to train new/current billing department employees in billing tasks; closes the AR activity monthly and prepares financial and statistical reports as needed and in the absence of the Revenue Cycle Manager.
