Summary: The Victim Advocate Assistant will assist the Legal and Social Advocacy Department with clerical work and departmental advocacy needs.

Responsibilities:
• Provide information on victimization.
• Provide information on victims’ legal rights and protections.
• Provide emotional support to victims.
• Help victims with safety planning.
• Help victims with victim compensation applications.
• Help victims find shelter and transportation.
• Do presentations.
• Answer telephones.
• Schedule appointments.
• Do intakes.
• Check voicemails.
• Provide transportation to victims of trafficking with previous authorization by supervisor.
• Help with interpretations- Spanish/English.
• Update list of clients, list of presentations and trainings.
• Update the DATA.
• In Charge of filing and organizing files.
• Confirm appointments.
• Keep in contact with Human Trafficking clients for any updates.
• Make referrals.
• Buy basic needs for Human Trafficking client (reimbursable funds).

• Update HT stats & map.
• Clerical work (fax, copies, scans, & courier).
• Attend events/meetings on behalf of Legal & Social Advocacy.

Education: Associates Degree.
Experience: Crisis Intervention Training, Domestic Violence Training, Human Trafficking Training, Advocacy Trainings, Confidentiality Trainings, Case Management Trainings. Experience in the field of serving victims of crime. Contacts in the community.
Verbal and Written Skills to perform the job: Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Familiarity with basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Accurate keyboarding skills.
Technical knowledge and skills required to perform the job: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal com-munication skills and the demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals and groups. Demonstrate high levels of self-initiation and direction. Knowledge of communities we serve. Knowledge and experience working in medical settings and interacting collaboratively with medical teams. Skill in analyzing situations and making timely decisions.
Physical and Mental Requirements: Work involves sitting, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or oper-ate objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms.
